Our AI agents work for you around the clock
Recovering government-held money used to mean phone queues, paper forms, and months of chasing agencies. We built custom AI agents to blast through that bureaucracy for you.
We have spent years collecting and organizing surplus records from thousands of counties into one centralized system, and the agents keep working 24/7: watching for new surpluses the moment counties post them, preparing the exact paperwork each county demands, and following up until the money is paid out to the account you choose. For you it stays simple: one inquiry, a signature, and updates in plain English.
Always-on record monitoring
Years of county surplus records, collected and organized in one place, with new filings picked up as they appear so claims are found early, while they are still simple to recover.
Your claim file, assembled for you
Forms, evidence, and county-specific requirements are prepared automatically. You review and sign; you don't chase paperwork.
Relentless follow-up
Counties are slow; our agents aren't. They track every response and deadline and keep your claim moving until the payout lands.
Human and attorney oversight
Nothing is filed or sent without review by our team, and by independent licensed attorneys where the law requires it.
Right now, unclaimed, in government accounts
$70 Billion+$70,000,000,000+
That's what sits in state unclaimed-property accounts alone, before counting the surplus funds held by more than 3,000 counties. It earns nothing for its owners. Most of them will never find out it exists.
Finding out whether some of it may be yours is free. You only ever pay if money is actually recovered for you.
Run my free checkFigure: combined balances reported by state unclaimed-property programs. Whether any funds belong to you is confirmed only by verification against official records.
What we help you recover
Property surpluses are where we started, not where it ends. Wherever a government agency holds money that belongs to you, we work to find it and get it back.
Tax-sale overages
Your property was sold at a county tax auction for more than the tax debt and costs. The difference may be waiting in county accounts, and it may legally be yours.
Foreclosure surplus
Same mechanic on a mortgage foreclosure: auction price above the payoff creates a surplus owed to the former owner.
Heir claims
A parent or relative passed away and their property was sold? As an heir you may be entitled to the surplus. It is how CashClaim started: recovering funds for our own father. Full heir service is rolling out; you can already submit an inquiry and we will contact you as it opens.
State unclaimed property
Surpluses that escheated to state unclaimed-property divisions. We're expanding coverage here next.
Not sure which category you fit? Government agencies hold money in many forms. If you think an agency may be holding funds in your name, submit an inquiry and we will check what applies to your situation.
Ask us to checkWhat are surplus funds?
Say a home is sold at a county tax auction because of unpaid property taxes. The sale brings in more than the tax debt and costs. That extra money doesn't belong to the county. By law, it belongs to the person who lost the property.
But most former owners never find out. This money is spread across thousands of counties, each with its own records, and the rightful owners often have no idea it exists. We started CashClaim after recovering funds for our own father and seeing exactly that.
So we centralize the data, verify who the money may belong to, and handle the recovery process end to end. Easy and transparent.
The county sells the property
A tax sale or foreclosure auction brings in more than what was owed. The difference, the surplus, legally belongs to the former owner.
The money sits unclaimed
The county mails one notice to the old address. It rarely reaches anyone, so the surplus waits in county records most people never search.
We find it and verify it
We centralize surplus data from counties across the US, match it to rightful owners, and verify each case against official records before reaching out.
How it works
Three steps for you; we carry all the logistics. You never pay anything out of pocket.
Free verification
Tell us about the property you lost. Our AI agents check your details against official county records, with human review, to confirm whether surplus funds may be held in your name, at no cost to you.
You sign. No upfront cost
If verified, we send a plain-English agreement stating our contingency fee, typically 10 to 20%. You pay nothing to start, and nothing at all if we don't recover funds.
We file, you get paid
From here it's set and forget. We handle every filing and follow-up, with licensed attorney partners where required, until the funds land in the account you choose, minus the agreed fee. No recovery, no fee.
You're right to verify us first.
If a letter from CashClaim brought you here, you're doing exactly the right thing. Here is how to check that we, and the money, are real:
- 1
Look up the county named in the letter and call their treasurer or clerk directly. Ask if a surplus exists for your old property. They will confirm it independently of us.
- 2
Check this website. Every letter we send points here, and everything we told you in it should match what you read on this site.
- 3
Reply on your terms. There is no deadline pressure from us. Real statutory deadlines, where they exist, come from the county or state, and we cite them so you can verify.
We will never ask for:
- Your Social Security number to check a claim
- Your bank login or account passwords
- Any payment, deposit, or processing fee upfront
Anyone doing so in our name is not us. Report it to [email protected].
Claim it yourself, or let us carry it
Both are real options. We'd rather show you the difference than hide the free one.
| Doing it yourselfAlways available, always free | With CashClaimNo win, no fee | |
|---|---|---|
| Cost | Free. Always your right. | 10 to 20% of the recovery, only if you're paid. $0 upfront. |
| Finding the money | Search each county's records yourself and hope you look in the right place. | We centralize surplus data from counties across the US and bring the find to you, verified. |
| Paperwork | Identify the right agency, correct forms, notarization, proof of ownership or heirship. | We prepare everything. You review and sign. |
| Legal filings | Some counties require court petitions. You represent yourself or hire an attorney at hourly rates. | Independent licensed attorneys handle filings, paid out of our fee, not your pocket. |
| Deadlines | Statutory windows vary by state. Missing one can mean losing the claim. | We track the deadlines that apply to your case and cite them so you can verify. |
| Risk | Your time; possibly attorney costs even if the claim fails. | None. No recovery means no fee, and we tell you plainly. |
This industry has a trust problem. We built CashClaim to be the answer to it.
If you received a letter from us, you were right to look us up. Here is exactly where we stand:
Our fee is disclosed before you sign
A stated contingency percentage, typically 10 to 20%, in writing, in plain English. No hidden costs, no processing charges, no surprises.
You can always claim it yourself, free
Every county has a direct claim process that costs nothing. We say this on every page, because a company hiding it is exactly the kind you shouldn't trust.
Licensed attorney partners
Where a claim requires legal filings or court approval, the work is handled by independent licensed US attorneys. No form-letter shortcuts.
No fee unless you're paid
We only earn when you actually receive money. If verification finds nothing recoverable, we tell you plainly and it costs you nothing.
Secure, minimal data handling
We ask only for what a claim check needs. Never your Social Security number or bank login at inquiry, never sold to anyone, no SMS marketing.
A documented, verifiable process
Every step is written down before it happens, and anything we tell you about your case can be confirmed with the county directly.
Our first case was our father's.
Before CashClaim existed, we were three sons helping our dad recover money a government agency had been holding for him, money he didn't know about until we found it.
That experience set the standard for how we treat every client: the way we would want our own family treated. It's also why we are comfortable telling you to verify everything we say with the county before signing anything.
You stay informed
Recovery takes time; counties move at their own pace. What we control is that you always know where your claim stands. Expect updates at every stage, in plain English, without having to chase us.
The fee is on paper before anything starts
You'll see the exact contingency percentage in writing before you sign. It comes out of the recovered funds at the end. There is nothing to pay along the way, whatever happens.
The process is hands-off for you
We do the record searches, prepare the forms, and coordinate the attorney work. Your part is reviewing, signing, and providing the documents only you can provide.
We're a young company and don't publish client reviews yet. When we do, they will be real ones.
Questions people actually ask us
Is this a scam?
A fair question. This industry attracts bad actors, and skepticism is healthy. Here is how to verify us: we never ask for money upfront, we never ask for your bank login or Social Security number to check a claim, our fee is a disclosed percentage paid only out of funds actually recovered for you, and you are always free to claim the funds yourself directly from the holding agency at no cost. You can independently confirm any surplus we identify by contacting the county named in our letter before signing anything.
Why haven't I heard of this money?
Counties are generally required to hold surplus funds, but their duty to find you is limited. Often it is just a mailed notice to the address of the property that was sold, which is exactly the address you no longer live at. Lists of unclaimed surpluses sit in county records that most people never think to search. That gap is the reason we exist.
What does it cost?
Nothing upfront, ever. We work on contingency: if we recover funds for you, our fee is a percentage of the amount recovered, typically 10 to 20%, stated plainly in your agreement before you sign. If we recover nothing, you owe nothing.
What if my relative passed away?
Heirs are welcome to inquire; full heir service is rolling out now. A large share of unclaimed surpluses belong to people who have passed away. If a parent, grandparent, or other relative lost a property to a tax sale or foreclosure, you may be entitled to claim the surplus as an heir. The paperwork is heavier (death certificate, proof of relationship, sometimes probate documents), and it is a process we and our attorney partners are set up for. It is also personal for us: CashClaim started when we recovered funds on behalf of our own father. Submit your inquiry now and we will contact you as heir intake opens.
How does the money end up with the government in the first place?
When a property is sold at a tax sale or foreclosure auction for more than what was owed, the extra money, the surplus, legally belongs to the former owner, not the government. The county holds it. If it goes unclaimed for long enough, it may escheat (transfer) to the state, where recovering it can become harder.
Can I claim the money myself without you?
Yes. Always, and for free. Every county has a process for former owners to claim surplus funds directly, and we tell you this on every page. People hire us because the process involves identifying the right agency, correct forms, notarization, deadlines, and sometimes court filings, and because we only get paid if it works. But doing it yourself is a real option, and we would rather say so plainly than pretend otherwise.
How long does the process take?
It varies by county and case type. Straightforward claims may pay out in a few months; cases involving heirs, competing claims, or court approval can take longer. We give you a realistic estimate for your specific county once your claim is verified, and we keep you updated at every stage.
What documents will I need?
Typically: government-issued photo ID, proof you owned or lived at the property (a deed, old tax bill, or utility bill), and a signed agreement with us. Heir cases also need a death certificate and proof of relationship. We walk you through exactly what your county requires. You never have to figure out forms alone.
What happens if you find nothing?
Then it costs you nothing and we tell you so. We verify every inquiry against official county records. If no recoverable funds are found, or the amount does not justify the process, we say that plainly rather than string you along.
Is my information safe?
We collect only what is needed to verify a claim, we do not sell your information, and we contact you only about your inquiry. No marketing lists, no SMS spam. See our Privacy Policy for the specifics.
